This book reads well and has many ideas, I really like it. However, when I try to follow instructions to access free classroom quality printables from Montessori Print Shop, it simply does NOT work. I am constantly redirected to an "ipage" that is related to real estate!!! This is extremely frustrating, misleading and disappointing because it takes away time I could have spent teaching my child. I guess the kindle version works better per other reviews.Product details

John Bowman has been a true instructor to me as a parent. There are so many ideas that can be implemented on a daily basis at home! John makes it clear that you do not have to purchase expensive materials or have a PhD in education to develop a well educated child. John explains the method of Montessori in a way that parents are able to replicate. His discussion of the sensitive period of learning has helped me to understand that even when my children's little minds appear to be uninspired, they are, in fact, building the scaffolding for future knowledge.
Be aware....you will need to be involved in your child's learning. John's books encourage the parent to notice, respond to and interact with their child on every level. If you are willing to put in the time to become a student of your child, John's books are for you. You will be educated enough to seize the opportunities as your child's sensitive periods emerge.
This book is filled with wonderful ideas for parents and teachers alike. The author is clearly an expert on the developmental stages of young minds, and using a montessori approach, helps parents understand the stages of beginning reading and writing. The book is filled with wonderfully simple ideas to do at home or in the classroom. The best part is that most of the materials (such as pasta for sorting, or wet sponges for writing) are things parents may already have in their pantries. If you have a child at home between the ages of 3-6, this is probably the clearest resource you can find to teach them to read and to write. In addition to the many, many hands-on activities, the author suggests online and app resources for parents to use as well. The fun part about an ebook is that you simply click on the resource link. Highly recommended!!!
